Name: Rock Lee (not sure if he has a last name... ^^
Age: 16-17
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Rock Lee is 5’8’’ and is very muscular due to his training. Usually, he is seen wearing a green jumpsuit and orange legwarmers which conceal heavy weights. Lee wears normal blue ninja sandals as well, and his maroon clothed headband is worn as a belt. Since becoming a chuunin, he’s added a pale forest-green vest to his ensemble. Lee has jet black hair styled in a bowl cut, and his eyes appear to most as a black color. (This is what I’ll use for now until I think of a more reasonable color) Finally, his black eyebrows are HUMONGOUS!! XD
Personality: Rock Lee has a very upbeat personality most of the time. He is extremely passionate about his training, usually coming up with strange training methods and working as much as he possibly can to get stronger. Lee also is very serious about accomplishing his goal: to become a great ninja without using ninjutsu or genjutsu. When it comes to his sensei, Gai, Lee is very admiring. He believes that Gai is one of the greatest people ever, hence why he dresses the way he does. Lee’s also very friendly: both to men and women. In his speech, he always uses suffixes like “-san”, “-chan”, and “-kun” when addressing friends. Lee has a strong sense of chivalry as well.
Background: There’s nothing really notable about Lee’s background until he enters the Ninja Academy. When he was younger, he was always ridiculed for not being able to perform ninjutsu and genjutsu, and Lee was also made fun of for having amateur-ish taijutsu skills at the time. At this age, Lee was much more sensitive, and because of this, he had trouble fitting in. The only one that gave him recognition at that time was his future sensei, Gai, who admired his determination and hard work.
Later, after passing exams and becoming a genin, Lee joined a squad with Tenten and Neji Hyuuga. When introducing themselves, they each were asked to reveal their goals. Lee eagerly said how he wanted to be a great ninja without using ninjutsu and genjutsu. After sharing his goal, Neji questioned Lee’s abilities as a ninja and told him that his goal would be impossible. Of course, Lee argued with him, saying that he would be able to do it. You could say that this was the beginning of a one-sided rivalry between the two.
Thanks to Gai-sensei's words of encouragement to Lee during his training, Lee massively improved his taijutsu and eventually became the only one of Gai's students to master the Lotus, both Primary and Hidden. (Right now, I can't remembere the Japanese terms used.)
The first time that Lee appears in the series was at the beginning of the Chuunin Exams. While heading to the first exam, he met the students of squad 7 and got a crush on Sakura, saying to her, "Please be my girlfriend! I will protect you with my life!" Then, he was epically rejected... ^^;
Later, he proceeded to fight against Sasuke and show him how hard work and determination could beat talent. He would've been able to use the Lotus, but Gai interfered before he was able to. And then to punish Lee for fighting when he should've been heading to the exams, Gai proceeded to punch him in the face..... And then, they embraced.... And there was that bizarre sunset background and what not..... Yeah.... Weird.... ^^;
The next major event for Lee was the second stage of the Chuunin Exams. At one point, he and his teammates split up to find the scroll that they needed to pass. As he searched, Lee had made up his own training exercise: to catch leaves before they hit the ground. In the middle of his made-up training exercise, he noticed a squirrel with an active paper bomb attached to it. Quickly, Lee helped the squirrel and took off the paper bomb. Suspicious of who would do such a cruel thing, he investigated this. This eventually led him to Sakura and her unconscious teammates. She was being attacked by a group of Sound ninja, and he immediately stepped in to protect her.
The opponent that Lee fought was a ninja by the name of Dosu. Since he was fighting to protect someone precious to him, he decided to use the Primary Lotus against Dosu, and he would've beat him had it not been for Zaku, who protected his teammate by creating a dirt cushion to lower the impact of the attack. Lee was weakened from the side effects of his jutsu, and by using his special sound attack, Dosu was able to knock him out. Luckily for Lee, several other shinobi got involved and drove the Sound ninjas away; these shinobi included, Sakura, Squad 10, Lee's own teammates, and Sasuke.
When the prelims for the Chuunin Exams took place, Lee was in the second-to-last match along with Gaara. Lee was able to show everyone his amazing taijutsu abilities, being one of the few to actually give Gaara a hard time in a fight. However, Gaara's attacks were far too great. Eventually, Lee had to use the Hidden Lotus, and although it did quite a bit of damage, Gaara had been able to save himself from the worst of it. By this point, Lee was too weak to do much else, and Gaara was able to completely destroy his left arm and leg with a Sand Coffin attack. Lee would've died from that fight, had it not been for Gai, who stepped in and interrupted the fight. Even after he had been knocked out cold, though, Lee was able to stand up, held up by nothing but his willpower. Unknown to Lee, Gai was later told that Lee couldn't be a ninja anymore due to the severity of his injuries.
Not much happened after that (to Lee's knowledge) until Tsunade came to Konoha. After looking at Lee's injuries, she told him how he wouldn't be able to go back to ninja work. This news devastated him. Tsunade told him that she could try to perform a surgery that could heal him, but the chances of the surgery to be a success were 50/50. This placed Lee in a tight situation. He wasn't sure what to do. With encouragement from Gai (and a little bit of convincing as well), Lee eventually decided to get the operation. It turned out to be a success, but unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to rehabilitate enough to join Naruto, Shikamaru, Chouji, Kiba, and Neji when they went to try and save Sasuke from the Sound Ninja 4.
Later, he did actually catch up with them, letting Naruto go after Sasuke while he fought Kimimaro. After a few minutes of fighting, Lee had them stop their fight so he could take his medicine that was supposed to help him recover. He pulled out the white bottle and drank it, not knowing that the bottle was filled with sake and not medicine. Lee had gotten drunk and used the Druken Fist technique to beat the crap out of Kimimaro, acting really goofy as well. XD
However, this wasn't enough, and Kimimaro was able to beat him out of his druken stupor. Before he could deal a fatal blow, Lee was saved by Gaara. He watched in awe as Gaara used many different sand attacks to stop the Sound ninja. After the fight was done, when Gaara said how he only won due to luck, Lee continued to say that Gai said that sometimes, luck can be considered a skill. Gaara responded by saying how foolish that was, and Lee retorted back and said to not insult Gai. Later, they'd return to Konoha and learn that the mission was a failure.... (Yeah, kinda sucks.... ^^
A couple of years later, after making it to Chuunin rank, Lee and his team were sent to help Kakashi and his students save Gaara from the Akatsuki. On the way to the Akatsuki base, their team ran into a clone of Kisame and fought him on a rocky terrain which later turned into a completely water terrain thanks to Kisame. In the middle of the fight, Lee and his teammates got caught by the Water Prison Jutsu, leaving Gai to fight Kisame on his own.
After Gai defeated the Kisame clone, their team proceeded to join with Squad 7. When they reached the base, there was an elaborate sealing method used to protect the entrance. After Lee and his squad helped remove the seal, he and each of the members on his team had to fight dopplegangers of themselves. They all eventually won, and they managed to catch up to Deidara after Naruto and Kakashi manage to get Gaara. In reality, it was a Deidara clone, and it had exploded, trying to take Lee, and everybody else, with it. However, Kakashi managed to save them.
After Chiyo brought Gaara back to life and they made it to Suna, both squads went on their way back to Konoha. After seeing Gai carrying Kakashi, Lee mistakes it for a type of training and asks Neji to let him carry him. Neji's immediate response was, "Hell no!" (Although this scene isn't particularly important to the plot, it's downright hilarious. XD)
After this point, Lee hasn't had any other significant role in Shippuden as of yet.
Strengths: Taijutsu and his persistence. You could also say that encouraging others could be a strength… ^^;
Weaknesses: Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. 'Nuff said.
Other: Lee loves curry, as seen in the filler arc, Curry of Life. When training, he always makes strange rules, such as, “If I can’t do 200 push-ups, I will do 300 kicks” or something else of that nature. He also uses this method to try and predict the future. Example: 2nd round of the Chuunin Exams where he said, "If I can catch all the leaves before they hit the ground, Sakura-chan will fall in love with me." (Lol, that was funny.)Earlier on, he had a massive crush on Sakura, but now, his feelings for her are unknown.
