Name: Ishtar Marik
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance:Regular: Yami: (try not to laugh) Marik is a tall, thin, and tan Egyptian male with long gray hair. As you can see in the two pictures regular Marik, much like Yugi, looks more sweet and innocent then compared to his more darker, spikier haired counterpart.
Personality: Marik started out as a misunderstood youth filled with both anger and grief. At the start of the Battle City ark Marik was a cold, manipulative, and controlling evil who would hide in the shadows and use his Millennium Rod to control the minds of Yugi's friends, his subordinates, and even minor characters in season one (in America) to destroy Yugi and the spirit in his Millennium Puzzle. Now he is a more sweet and curious man who only longs to see the world outside his own. Without the spirit of the Millennium Rod influencing his rage Marik has become somewhat of a more honor bound version of Yugi
Background: Marik was the second born son of the Ishtar children (his step brother Odion[Rishid in the Manga] was adopted first then his sister Ishizu was born) causing his mother to die from child birth and being the first born SON however forced him to cary on the Ishtar legacy of holding the secret to Yami's past. Marik was forced to live underground in the Pharaohs tomb with his family but only wanted to break free and see the world outside. So before his inauguration to the grave keepers guild, where he would receive the Millennium Rod, he convinced his step brother to take him to the outside world, this fascinated him to no end all the people, the animals, and the shops. When they snuck back to the tomb Marik was gleeful to think he got away Scott free but when he left to thank Odion he found him tied to the bed being whipped by his own father as punishment for this hanus crime. During Marik's inauguration, where his father scared the secrets onto Marik's back (or tattooed on if you watch the anime) all he could think about was his time on the surface, the punishment Odion had to endure, and the one person who pushed this torment on his family, the Pharaoh. Then a voice called to him controlling him, his birth right, the Millennium Rod. Thats when it happened, his hair grew more spiky, his eyes showed not a teenage boy suffering the pain of a guardian but a man twisted to insanity but the carelessness of mankind, and a single, gold, familiar eye shined on his forehead. As his father tried to stop this entity controlling his son this being only brushed these orders away as he took the Millennium Rod and used the knife concealed in the Rod to kill his father. As Odion watched Marik unknowingly kill his father he tried to call out to the Marik within but this Darker, this Yami Marik, humored Odion's feeble attempts to control him and slashed the scaring of the grave keepers on his dead fathers back and placed it on Odion's back. Odion called one more time for the true Marik and this time his cries where heard, banishing Yami Marik to the dark recesses of Marik's mind. Marik regained consciousness as a new, more hateful Marik who wanted to end his families curse by destroying the Pharaoh. Years later him and his faithful brother formed a band of card thieves known as the Ghouls (Rare Hunters in the anime) who's only goal was to steal both the Egyptian God Cards and the Millennium Puzzle so Marik could poses the power of the Pharaoh and rule the world. Even though his Rare Hunters where defeated and his God Card Slifer was taken by Yugi he still managed to enter the Battle City Finals as Joey and Tea's new friend Namu while he used Odion as a disguise to fool the others. This rouge did not last long, for while Odion was dueling Joey he played a copy of Marik's God Card Ra, this angered the card and struck down both Joey and Odion, and with Odion out of the way nothing was stopping Yami Marik from controlling Marik's body. Yami Marik caused all sorts of mayhem during the Battle City Finals trapping Mai and Joey in the Shadow Realm, and Destroying what was left of Yami Bakura outside of the Millennium Puzzle. Finlay Marik had his Final duel with Yami Yugi where they played a Shadow Game where for each life point lost part of the spirits host would be lost to the Shadow Realm (he would lose the real Marik and Yami would lose Yugi) it seemed like their was no hope to defeating Yami Marik for good but due to real Marik's love and will odion regained consciousness and banished Yami Marik reversing the offering for the Shadow Game. So before Yami Marik could return to his body Marik surrendered the duel automatically reducing his life points to zero and sacrificing his dark half to the Shadow Realm for all eternity.
Other: Marik has a real liking to motorcycles, so much that when he went to the surface with Odion he stole a motorcycle magazine and would always pretend to ride one.
